AURICULOTHERAPY: WHAT IS IT?
Auriculotherapy is similar to ear acupuncture except that instead of needles used to stimulate a point, either a low level laser or electric stimulation unit is used.
HOW DOES AURICULOTHERAPY WORK?
Ear acupuncture has been around for thousands of years. Modern auriculotherapy was developed in the 1950's by a French Neurologist. The principle is based on the idea that cranial nerve endings exist in the ear that have a direct connection to the brain. There are literally hundreds of points that have been discovered that correlate to every part of the body.
Auriculotherpay is a stand alone treatment modality and has the potential of helping people with a wide variety of disorders. It is particularly beneficial for helping people with psychological challenges such as anxiety, depression, and addiction. Perhaps the most common application for auriculotherapy in the U.S. is for smoking cessation. Certain points on the inside of the ear have been found to have been shown to dramatically reduce one's cravings and withdrawal symptoms.
We use auriculotherapy to help eliminate chronic pain anywhere in the body.
DOES IT HURT?
No. auriculotherapy does not hurt. We use a point locator to find points that need to be treated. Then we either stimulate the point with a minor electrical current or with a low level laser.
